LEGO Star Wars Battles have been announced by the official Star Wars website. As the website describes it, LEGO Star Wars Battles is a mobile game that “combines competitive combat, character collecting, and tower building with the classic charm and humor of LEGO.” In this game, you’ll be able to collect and then lead an army of LEGO Star Wars characters into real-time, PVP battles.
There’s some great news for all you Star Wars fans out there as LEGO Star Wars Battles are coming to Android and iOS. Players will be able to enjoy the mobile strategy game where they get to collect, build, and fight different battles. The game “combines competitive combat, character collecting, and tower building with the classic charm and humor of LEGO.” Players will be able to battle, in real-time, and play as Luke Sky.
The only bummer here is that they’re following a sort of currently-in-vogue format for money-making for mobile apps, that being the free-at-first but then in-app-purchase heavy inside. We’re crossing our fingers that the format follows closely with games like Hearthstone, where players CAN pay money for content, but can also complete in-game tasks (not “ad-related” tasks) to attain said content.
This new Star Destroyer set comes during the 20th anniversary of Lego’s first wave of Star Wars sets in 1999. So far this year, the company has unveiled a new Rebel Tantive IV Blockade Runner set, five different sets to celebrate the anniversary and a Darth Vader bust. The company also set a Guinness world record for the most Star Wars mini-figures in one place.

Sometimes we get so caught up in our theories and speculation, that we forget the most important part about Star Wars, it is fun! The newly announced mobile game, LEGO Star Wars Battles, serves as a nice reminder. The game pits characters in battle who would otherwise never face-off in Star Wars.
